Emerald belongs to the yeddi rəng, the seven-colour palette that marks a master's hand. Four stamped bands are laid down to build a frame rather than follow the edge, their repeat close to the coin border the makers call pulla qələ; butas and flowering sprays fill the field inside, and a fine spray of dye covers everything. Its name comes from the emerald ground (zümrüd) and that stamped frame, haşiyə.
